Day1: Arrival at Chennai
After arrival at Chennai, check in to the hotel, and proceed for the sightseeing tour which will include visiting to:
- Santhome Church, an Important church for worldwide for Christians as it is the tomb of St. Thomas the Apostle.
- Kapaleeswarar Temple, is devoted to Maa Parvati in the avatar of Karpagambal and also to Lord Shiva.
- Marina Beach, it the second longest beach in the country. It has white sand and is considered to be one of the cleanest and busiest beaches in India.
Overnight stay at the hotel in Chennai.
Day 2: Chennai - Kanchipuram – Mahabalipuram (approx 144kms)
After breakfast, transfer to Kanchipuram and vist:
- Kailasanatha Temple, is considered one of the most remarkable cave temples in the world because of its size, architecture and sculptural treatment
- Ekambaranathar Temple, is one of the biggest Shiva temples in Tamil Nadu, definitely one of the largest in Kanchipuram with one of the tallest Gopurams and a thousand pillar hall.
- Vaikunda Perumal Temple, is a temple dedicated to the Hindu god Vishnu, located in Kanchipuram in the South Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It is one among the 108 Divyadesam dedicated to Vishnu, who is worshipped as Vaikuntanathan (Lord Paramapadanathan) and his consort Lakshmi as Vaikundavalli.
Afterwards, transfer to Mahabalipuram to visit:
- The Shore Temple, has three sanctums, two of which are dedicated to Lord Shiva and one to Lord Vishnu
- Panch Rathas, are a group of majestic structures present in the locality of Mahabalipuram in the state constructed during the seventh century, by Raja Narasimhavarman of the Pallava dynasty, the work was left unfinished after the death of this king. The specialty of the structures is that they have each been carved from a single rock of granite into a ratha (chariot). Named after the five Pandava brothers and their wife, Draupadi, of the epic of Mahabharata, the structures are in no way related to the story and the name was born out of local usage.
- Arjuna’s Penance is named after the Epic Mahabharatha hero, Arjuna. It is one of the biggest open-air rock sculptures in the world.
Check in to the hotel. Overnight stay in Mahabalipuram.
Day 3: Mahabalipuram - Tanjore/ Thanjavur (approx 300 kms / 6 hrs)
After breakfast, transfer to Tanjore which is renowned as the ‘Rice Bowl of Tamil Nadu.’ Enroute visit the highly revered Gangaikonda Cholapuram.
After arrival at Tanjore, check into your hotels and later visit:
- Brihadeeswarar Temple. is a Hindu temple dedicated to Shiva located in Thanjavur.The vimanam (temple tower) is 216 ft (66 m) high and is the tallest in the world.
- The museum and art gallery at the Tanjore palace are lined up for a visit after the temple.
Overnight stay in Tanjore.
Day 4: Tanjore - Trichy - Madurai (approx 197 kms)
After breakfast transfer to Madurai, Tamil Nadu. While travelling, visit :
- Srirangam Ranganathaswamy Temple, dedicated to Ranganatha, a form of the Supreme God, Maha Vishnu. A major pilgrimage destination for Hindus (especially Srivaishnavites) and the largest temple complex in India.
- Jambukeswarar Temple at Trichy. is a famous Shiva temple and it represents the element of water. The sanctum of Jambukeswara has an underground water stream and in spite of pumping water out, it is always filled with water.
Check-in to the hotel. Overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 5: Departure Madurai
After breakfast, visit to :
- Meenakshi Amman Temple, is devoted to Lord Shiva as Lord Sundareswarar and his wife, Maa Parvati as Goddess Meenakshi.
- Thirumalai Nayakar Palace, was considered to be one of the wonders of the South. The palace depicts the perfect blend of Dravidian and Rajput styles.
- Gandhi museum, is a treasure trove for the people,who are more inclined towards the history of Indian Freedom Movement. The museum has three galleries to explore - India Fights for Freedom, Visual Biography of Mahatma Gandhi, and Relics & Replicas.
In evening, take the departure.
